‘ Madonna del Mare Nostrum ‘ or ‘ Cloak of Care ‘ was commissioned for the first biennial ‘ Art in the Holy Triangle ‘ in Oosterhout. The painting is inspired by the refugee issue.

Deze pastiches laten Hansa’s grote belangstelling voor textiel in het algemeen en voor glimmende stoffen in het bijzonder zien. Hij heeft zich in zijn zoektocht naar de perfecte stofuitdrukking laten inspireren door Gerard ter Borch. Door deze oude meester te bestuderen groeide het respect van Hansa voor de oude ambachtelijke technieken.

These pastiches show Hansa’s great interest in textiles in general and for shiny fabrics in particular. In his search for the perfect fabric expression Gerard ter Borch inspires Hansa. Studying this old master increased Hansa’s respect for the old craft techniques.

“Glanzende stoffen hebben mijn jeugd begeleid. Mijn moeder was kleermaakster van onder andere bruidstoiletten. Vaak moest ik helpen met passen en meten en helaas soms ook met het uithalen van reeds gemaakte delen. Bijpassende garens halen was ook een gebruikelijk corvee. Niet slecht voor je kleurgevoel.”

“Shiny fabrics were part of my youth. My mother was a versatile seamstress of diverse outfits including bridal dresses. Often I had to help with fitting and measuring and unfortunately sometimes with deconstructing finished parts. Picking up matching yarns from the store was a typical chore. Not bad for your colour sense. “
